We commemorate the life and legacy of Malcolm X, who was assassinated on February 21, 1965, with: Mychal Denzel Smith, contributing writer at The Nation, blogger at, Knobler Fellow at the Nation Institute, and freelance writer and commentator whose work has appeared in various publications, including The Guardian, Ebony, and Huffington Post; Dr. Peniel Joseph, Professor of History and Founding Director of the Center for the Study of Race and Democracy at Tufts University and author of a number of books including the award-winning Waiting ‘Til the Midnight Hour: A Narrative History of Black Power in America; and Dr. Yohuru R. Williams, Professor of History at Fairfield University, author of Black Politics/White Power: Civil Rights Black Power and Black Panthers in New Haven and editor of A Constant Struggle: African-American History from 1865 to the Present, Documents and Essays.
