The Marc Steiner Show

October 12, 2011 – Hour 2

The Creative Alliance at the Patterson has two upcoming events focusing on the Middle Passage. Joseph Norman, an artist in residence at the Creative Alliance, has connected four hundred and one black and white paintings to create a massive mural of his own telling of the Middle Passage. In addition, on October 14th at 8 pm, there will be music and performance to compliment Norman’s piece. We are joined by Norman himself, along with Leslie King-Hammond, Graduate Dean Emeritus and founding Director at the Center for Race and Culture at Maryland Institute College of Art, MK Asante, professor of Creative Writing and Filma in the Department of English and Language Arts at Morgan State University, author, and filmmaker, Bashi Rose, actor, playwright, and director, co-founder of Nommo Theatre, and director of the film Me, Myself, and Us, and Rosiland Cauthen, a playwright who will be performing short pieces about the Middle Passage during the performance on Friday.
