Elliot Rodger, Male Entitlement, Misogyny and Violence

Elliot-RodgerMay 28, 2014 – Segment 2

We look at the tragic killing rampage last week in California by 22-year old Elliot Rodger. The latest reports indicate that he acted in part out of an intense frustration over rejection by women. We discuss male entitlement, misogyny and violence against women. Our panel of guests includes: Igor Volsky, Managing Editor of ThinkProgress.org; Dr. John Bullock, professor of Political Science at Towson University; Dr. Kate DrabinskiLecturer of Gender and Women’s Studies and Director of the Women Involved in Learning and Leadership (WILL) program at UMBC; and A. Adar Ayira, Project Manager of the More in the Middle Campaign for Associated Black Charities and facilitator and analyst at Baltimore Racial Justice Action, a program of Fusion Partnerships.

I browsed thru the prog- heard no mention of the gun issues- lots on misogyny, mental health, people bringing race into it (why?)- unless this young man had issues abt his Asian component- which no one mentioned- pretty shallow to me (and, yes I am a proud critic)
Calif has introduced a law that might have enabled the parents to get the police to find this idiot’s guns- why did no one discuss the dealer that sold him the guns? the persons who made the guns- I mean I could say- it’s the guns, stupid- but I know you all aren’t stupid.
Please listen to Richard Martinez and connec t the dots.

Calif. like Md. needs stronger gun control-I did not hear it mentioned. Thank God for O’Malley and de Marco.
