I bring in guests for our Sports and Politics Roundtable. We discuss topics to include: The WNBA protest when players wore black T-shirts in the wake of recent shootings by and against police officers; Michael Jordan’s post on The Undefeated, saying “I can no longer stay silent;” and activism in the sports community. With: Milton Kent, freelance journalist and Lecturer in the Department of Multimedia Journalism in the School of Global Journalism and Communication at Morgan State University; Dr. Karsonya Kaye Whitehead, Associate Professor of Communication and African and African American Studies at Loyola University Maryland and author of Race Brave: New and Selected Works, Notes From a Colored Girl: The Civil War Pocket Diaries of Emile Frances Davis and My Black Sons: Raising Boys in a Post-Racial America; Sam Brand, teacher and basketball coach at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, and Ali Danois, Editor-In-Chief of The Shadow League, freelance sports and entertainment writer, his debut The Boys of Dunbar, a Story of Love, Hope and Basketball, will be released September 2016.
