I remember seeing this on The Charlie Rose Show about a company that will swap an dead battery with a new one is less time that it takes to fill up a gas powered car. The depleted battery is then stored and recharged using solar panel to recharge the batteries during the day and hydrogen fuel cells for night time recharging. The company is called Better Place and they have had their system in a trials in Israel. Better Place hopes to have 100 stations in Israel buy 2011 and hopes to expand its operation to Denmark, Australia, California and Hawaii. Here is a link to an article in Wired about the company.
