In her tenure at the head of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Marin Alsop has dedicated herself to making sure the symphony is open to all Baltimore residents. And this weekend, she’s throwing open the doors of the Meyerhoff and inviting everyone down to the Women of the World Conference. And it’s not just for women – Marc will be on a panel at 12:30 Saturday afternoon about what it means to be a man and a feminist. With everything from a marketplace to 15 minute mentoring sessions to exciting panels and creative offerings, the weekend holds something for everyone.
We went down to the Meyerhoff yesterday to talk with Alsop about the conference as well as the exciting concerts Friday and Sunday, when she will conduct the symphony in the score to the 1928 silent film The Passion of Joan of Arc.
