We talk with Alash, a Tuvan throat singing group, while they are in town for a talk they gave at TEDxBaltimore. Masters of traditional Tuvan instruments as well as the art of throat singing, Alash are deeply committed to traditional Tuvan music and culture. We are also joined by local beatboxer & vocal percussionist Shodekeh, who appears on Alash’s latest album “Achai,” Michael Faulkner, director of an upcoming documentary called SHU-DE!, which follows Shodekeh and he travels to Tuva to collaborate with Alash, and Sean Quirk, Alash’s interpreter and manager.
