On Veterans Day – The Human Cost Of War: High Rates Of Suicide Among Veterans

Happy Veterans Day to all those who have served our nation in the armed forces. To honor this day we will begin our show with a look at a sad but very real phenomenon:  the high rate of suicides among veterans. Our guests are:

• Woody Curry, Vietnam veteran and Clinical Director at The Baltimore Station, an addiction recovery program in South Baltimore;
• Thomas Brennan, a Marine veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan and Purple Heart recipient who currently serves as the military affairs reporter for The Daily News in Jacksonville, N.C. He wrote a piece for the New York Times titled, “My Suicide Attempt and My Struggles to Get Help“;
• and Kim Ruocco, Manager for Suicide Outreach and Education Programs at The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors.
