While he still writes a column for the Miami Herald, he has been churning out a steady stream of novels since the early 80’s, including Tourist Season and Strip Tease, which was made into a film starring Demi Moore and Burt Reynolds. In 2002, he published Hoot, his first young adult novel, which was also made into a film. He joined us this hour to discuss his writing career, including his new young adult novel Scat, as well as his thoughts on politics and environmentalism, topics he has explored throughout his life.
