December 1st was the anniversary of the death of James Baldwin, and we begin the show with a remembrance of this important novelist, essayist, playwright, poet, and social critic. Joining us for this discussion are: William Melvin Kelley, author of a number of books including A Different Drummer, winner of the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award in 2008 for Lifetime Achievement, and professor of Fiction Writing at Sarah Lawrence College; and Reginald Harris, Poetry in the Branches Coordinator and IT Director for Poets House in New York City, and Recipient of the 2012 Cave Canem Northwestern University Press Poetry Prize for Autogeography.
