In our final highlight from this year’s Maryland Film Festival
, we’re lucky enough to speak to the director and star of the film that won this year’s Oscar in the documentary short category – Music by Prudence
The film follows Prudence, who was born in Zimbabwe with arthrogryposis, which left her unable to walk. After a childhood of neglect from many members of her family, she attended a school for disabled children where she began to sing in the choir. Eventually she formed a band.
Listen to hear Prudence Mabhena, director Roger Ross Williams, and producer Patrick Wright discuss the film and Prudence’s incredible journey.
