On today’s show Marc sat down with Baltimore Deputy Mayor Chris Thomaskutty and Budget Director Andrew Kleine to discuss the budget cuts proposed by Mayor Sheila Dixon. The cuts include laying off as many as 153 city workers, closing recreation centers and public swimming pools in neighborhoods across the city, and increasing water rates by 9 percent. If adopted, they will go into effect on July 1st of this year.
Chris Thomaskutty is Deputy Mayor for Administration in Baltimore City, overseeing departments that include public safety, finance, labor, information technology, CitiStat, and the wage and retirement commissions.
Andrew Kleine is the budget director for the City of Baltimore. He joined the city after serving as the Chief Financial Officer of The Corporation for National and Community Service.
