The Marc Steiner Show

How Society Views Domestic Violence

May 13, 2013 – Segment 3

Cleveland houseThrough a different lens, we examined the news last week that three women in Cleveland had been abducted and held in confinement for a decade. Specifically, how did our society’s view of domestic violence – i.e., ignoring the signs – play into the fact that this ordeal occurred and that it was able to continue, right under neighbors’ noses, for such a long time? We were joined by Rhonda Wells-Wilbon, Chair of the Masters in Social Work Program in the School of Social Work at Morgan State University and Jane Murphy, Professor of Law at the University of Baltimore School of Law.
