We close out the show with a preview of a musical event benefiting TurnAround, Inc., on April 11. We’re joined by Pierre Bensusan, acoustic guitarist composer and bilingual improvisational vocalist, and Amelia Rubenstein, LGSW, Team Leader of the Anti-Trafficking Program at TurnAround, Inc. We turn to a discussion on human trafficking. Our guests include: Leon J. Henry and Natalie Meade of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Chesapeake; Tina Bigdeli, Maryland Outreach and Direct Services Program Manager for FAIR Girls; Phillip Martin, Senior Investigative Reporter in WGBH-FM in Boston.
On Saturday, June 22 from 10 to 2, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Chesapeake is hosting an awareness training, TELL YOUR FRIENDS: Preventing Exploitation with Education and Empowerment. The training will be held at the Union Mill Building, 1500 Union Ave., 21211 and is open to middle and high school students, mentors, parents/guardians, youth advocates, concerned citizens, etc. This modified prevention education training will empower youth and adults with the knowledge, communication skills, and community resources to keep teens safe from exploitation and trafficking and to become peer educators.
