Budget Cuts & Baltimore Schools

Join Marc Steiner for a live two-hour broadcast on the opening day of the 2009 Maryland General Assembly Legislative Session. For the 6th year, Marc will interview Maryland's leaders covering pertinent topics such as the financial crisis hitting Maryland and the country, environmental issues, the death penalty legislation and BRAC.

A breakfast buffet begins at 7:00 AM, followed by Marc's interview with Senate President Miller and Speaker Michael Busch from 7:30-8:30. Governor Martin O’Malley will be interviewed from 8:30-9:30. In each hour, time will be set aside for audience members to ask questions. The show will air on WEAA FM 88.9, in Baltimore and WSCL 89.9 FM in Salisbury.

Troy Davis Granted Stay of Execution

On Tuesday's show, we discussed the case of Troy Davis, who's on death row in Georgia after having been convicted of the murder of a police officer. Today, the federal appeals court in Atlanta issued a stay of execution. Read more about it here.

Welcome to the Center for Emerging Media's new website!

We're so excited to bring this to you after working on it for a month and a half. This website brings together in one place all our various projects, and also incorporates an interactive forum for our listeners to interact with each other.

If you have any questions about how to use this website or where something is located, leave a comment below or send me an email at jes.phillips@gmail.com.

To navigate the website, pay attention to the top menu bar. That will be your number one place to go once you know what you wanted to do. Do you want to read the blog? Click on "Blog". Do you want to listen to CEM programs? Click on "Programs". And so on. Once you make a decision, depending on what you click on, the right column will give you more options. For example, if you click on Programs, the right column will show you what programs we have available for you to listen to. If you click on Blog, the right column will show you archived entries and tags.

Just click around and get to know the site. Please let us know if you have any problems or questions about how this works!

Questions for Mayor Dixon

On April 21st, we're going to City Hall to interview Sheila Dixon, Mayor of Baltimore. So, send us questions that you want the Mayor to answer. You have issues in your neighborhood, bring them up. Questions about any policy issues, or crime or poverty? You can send us political questions about Annapolis and the coming Presidential election. They are all fair game. We may not be able to take your calls, but we can take your questions. We'll use them to help plan our interview, which will of course be available right here as a CEM podcast. Thanks!!
