September 23, 2010 – Segment 1

Welcome to the premier of our new weekly series, On Delmarva.  Journey with us each week through the Delmarva peninsula to hear the stories of its residents and explore the issues that touch all of our lives.

This week, we stand by the banks of the Sassafras River with former Maryland Congressman Wayne Gilchrest, as he reflects on the importance of the wild lands in his backyard and throughout the region.

Then, we talk with environmental writer and Eastern Shore native Tom Horton, who will be a regular correspondent for On Delmarva.

Finally, State Senator and Congressional candidate Andy Harris joins us to discuss an ongoing lawsuit againt Perdue and an Eastern Shore chicken farm, accusing them of polluting the Chesapeake Bay with manure-laden runoff.
