March 7, 2011 – Segment 1

In today’s increasingly globalized economy, money that you spend here in Baltimore can be halfway across the world in the blink of an eye.  On the first part of the show today we discuss a proposal to help keep your dollars here in Baltimore.  The BNote is a currency just for local Baltimore businesses.  When it goes into circulation you’ll be able to buy 11 BNotes for $10, and then use them at participating local businesses. They in turn will be able to give them as change to customers, or use them to pay other local merchants.  We’re joined today by Jeff Dicken, Executive Director of the Baltimore Green Currency Association and Jerry Raitzyk from the Chespakeake Juggling Institute to talk about the BNote and when it might be coming to a community near you.
