February 7, 2011 – Segment 1

Youth advocates in Maryland hope that Governor O’Malley’s decision not to fund a new youth jail that was proposed to be built in Baltimore signals a commitment to focusing on alternatives to incarceration for at risk youth.  We discuss creative solutions this hour with Laura Furr, Senior Director of Youth Justice Initiatives at Community Law in Action, Maggi Phillips, Organizer with the Baltimore Algebra Project, and Reverend Heber Brown, Pastor of Pleasant Hope Baptist Church in Baltimore.

There is a meeting to organize and hear from the community on these issues February 8, 2011 at 6pm at Sojourner Douglass College, 200 N. Central Ave. in Baltimore.  For more information, please contact: Rashad Hawkins of Community Law in Action (410)706-3875
