Fundraiser for Maria Broom

For Maria, With Love

A Unique Fundraising Event for Our Friend in Need

DATE: Sunday, March 1, 2009

TIME: 1 - 6 p.m.

LOCATION: Eubie Blake Cultural Center, 847 North Howard Street

Join us for an all out dance party, the way only Dance Baltimore can do. A full afternoon of dance workshops will be offered to benefit one of the most influential dance professionals in Baltimore--"The Story Dancer" Maria Broom. Maria recently underwent major emergency surgery last week and will be recuperating for the next several weeks at home--unable to work, unable to dance. To help with expenses, mini classes in jazz, modern, tap, African, bellydance, aerial, flamenco, and more will be offered to all of Baltimore, ages 12 and older. Each class is 45 minutes. Classes are $10 each or $25 for three. Music, food, and dancing will be available on Sunday and all proceeds will be donated directly to Maria.

If you are unable to attend, but would like to make a donation, please make checks payable to Dance Baltimore/GBCA and mail to Dance Baltimore, 847 North Howard Street, Baltimore, MD 21201.

Thanks so much and hope to see you Sunday!

Let's show out and dance Baltimore!

SLAMicide returns!

Hello All:

As many of you know, SLAMicide became homeless again recently, but we finally have some good news.

On Sunday, July 6, SLAMicide is returning to Charles Village!!! And switching to Sunday nights at 7:00!

Our new home is the beautiful and spacious bar and restaurant Den Lounge, located at 3327 St. Paul St, across from the Hopkins Barnes & Noble.

You can visit Den Lounge at http://www.denlounge.com/

So, to make our first night at our new home especially stellar, we're kicking things off with a feature from local favorite Black Root and closing things up with a FIFTY DOLLAR SLAM. So bring your A game. And lots of friends.

See you all there!

-Chris, Julio, Janna, and gran
